Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening recognized the retirement of one of its police officers, a milestone by one and the hiring of another.

Chief Chuck Hasty presented retired Captain Ozzie Morgan his side arm and badge.

“He's a great guy,” Hasty said following the meeting.

Morgan thanked council and the police department. “I had a great career. I miss the guys and Councilman (Ernest) Bobbitt was my lieutenant. I just thank you and if there's anything I can ever help you with let me know.”
