Two people have been arrested and another is sought in a Wednesday night kidnapping in which a physically impaired person was forced to withdraw money from an account.

The crime began with the removal of the victim from their residence on Melody Lane and ended at a business on East Tenth Street in Roanoke Rapids, Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s said.
The victim was injured with a knife and sustained injuries which required medical treatment, Hall said. The victim was treated and released.
Hall declined comment on the means in which the victim was reportedly made to withdraw the money. He did say use of an ATM machine was not involved.
In a statement Hall said the sheriff’s office received a report of an armed robbery and kidnapping which originated outside Roanoke Rapids on Melody Lane around 7:30 p.m.
Further investigation by Detective B.C. Griffin led to warrants being obtained on Tyrone Johnson, 41, Sheila Gary, 44, and Tyquane Johnson, 22, all of Roanoke Rapids.
Griffin said this evening the Johnsons are father and son and Gary is the elder Johnson’s girlfriend.
Tyrone Johnson and Gary were arrested by today by Lieutenant G. Evans and Sergeant S. Casey.
The younger Johnson remains on the lam and tends to frequent areas in Roanoke Rapids and Weldon, Griffin said.
The elder Johnson and Gary face charges of first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault on a handicapped person and conspiracy.
They received $20,000 secured bonds and have February 22 court dates.
The younger Johnson faces charges of assault on a handicapped person and conspiracy.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tyquane Johnson is encouraged to contact the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 252-583-1991 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
