The events will occur at the state Historic Site in Halifax.
On Saturday Historic Halifax will recall political history from the 18th Century with An Evening with William R. Davie which will be from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Special guests include costumed interpreters assuming the roles of inhabitants of Halifax as they would have appeared on April 12, 1776, the date of the historic ratification of the Halifax Resolves.
Participants will take a short tour of historic structures, while interacting with townsfolk to discover how the Resolves impacted the 18th Century port town.
The perspectives of many individuals living in Halifax will be discussed, in order to present to visitors a robust understanding of the importance of this document and how it impacted the different social classes.
The evening will culminate with a visit from William R. Davie, portrayed by Lynn Bull.
Bull, said Robert Bemis, site manager, is a renowned interpreter.
Jeff Dickens will interpret as Henry Bradford and Frankie King will interpret as the Widow Eellbeck, the owner of a Halifax boardinghouse.
Light refreshments will be served afterward.

10:30 a.m. — Halifax Resolves presentation by Larry Armstrong and the presentation of the Halifax Resolves Awards.
Wednesday
The approaching Halifax Day observance at Historic Halifax will commemorate the Halifax Resolves and North Carolina's stand as the first colony to call for separation.
The free celebration will feature costumed interpreters, living history demonstrations for young and old and is sponsored by the Historical Halifax Restoration Association.
North Carolina's flag bears the date April 12, 1776, in recognition of the state's revolutionary move to independence and its importance to the state's history. The 83 delegates of the Provincial Congress passed the Halifax Resolves unanimously.
9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
School group tours and demonstrations will take place.
10:30 a.m.
The North Carolina Sons of the American Revolution will mark the anniversary of the adoption of the Halifax Resolves with a wreath-laying at the colonial courthouse site.
Noon until
A homemade Brunswick Stew Sale will take place in the site picnic area from noon until sold out, with proceeds benefitting Friends of Historic Halifax.
Prices are $7 per quart or $3 per bowl.
2:30 p.m.
A commemorative program will be held in the visitor center.
Keynote speaker for the program will be Gene Cobb, Grand Master of North Carolina Masons, whose presentation is entitled: “The Masonic Connection with our Revolutionary War Leaders.” During the program, the Historical Halifax Restoration Association will present the third Halifax Resolves Award, given for excellence in Historic Preservation.
A reception in the Tap Room Tavern follows the program.
