EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

The City of Roanoke Rapids is now accepting applications for the following position:

Sanitation Worker. An employee in this position performs work as a member of a crew led by a Sanitation Equipment Operator in loading and unloading refuse over an established route. Applicant must hold a valid NC Driver’s License. Position is open until filled.

Street Maintenance Worker I. An employee in this class performs a variety of semi-skilled, and occasionally skilled labor tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets and storm drainage. Work involves operating heavy equipment such as backhoes in tight situations. Essential duties and tasks include but are not limited to: uOperates backhoes, loaders and other equipment in situations requiring skills and care such as around underground and overhead utility lines and other situations uPerforms minor preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment uResponds to public requests and questions with courtesy and tact uPatched asphalt with gravel, hot asphalt, cold patch and other materials; operates air hammers, rollers, and other light equipment; etc. Requirements: uMust have good communication and customer service skills uMust have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, supervisors, and other employees uMust have a working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in general construction and maintenance work * Must possess a valid Class C North Carolina Driver’s license. Position is open until filled.

Part-Time Library Assistant (RR Public Library). An employee in this position will perform various duties at the Roanoke Rapids Public Library. Good interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills are a MUST. Applicants must be available to work flexible schedule including days, nights and Saturdays. Approximately 10-17 hours total per week.

Police Officer (Roanoke Rapids Police Department):

An employee in this class performs a full range of general law enforcement duties to protect life and property in the City. Basic Law Enforcement Training is preferred but not required. MUNICIPAL OFFICES CLOSED/TRASH COLLECTION: Municipal Offices will be closed on Friday, April 14, 2017 in observance of Good Friday. Trash collection routes for Friday will be collected on Wednesday, April 12th.
