He was born in Potecasi, NC, son of the late Ruben Colston and Mary Parker Colston.
Jimmy formerly worked at the J.P. Stevens Company. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Baptist Fellowship. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Jimmy loved to watch NASCAR racing and old western movies. He was crazy about ham biscuits.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Davenport Colston, of the home; two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Wilson and her husband, Eddie, Ruth Ann Godsey and her husband, Travis, all of Roanoke Rapids; nephew, Christopher Colston and a niece, Elizabeth Colston, both of Virginia; two grandchildren, Linley Michelle Godsey and Caleb Robert Godsey.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 24, 2017, at the Colston Family Cemetery, Lasker, NC, with Dr. Dennis W. Gregory, Sr. officiating.
