The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Master Officer J. Hardy and Officer C. Hagbourne conducted a traffic stop for a violation in the 700 block of Jefferson Street.

The passenger, Ryan Chance Turner, 22, of Gaston, had outstanding warrants for violating probation.

Turner was taken into custody and during a search was found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Turner was cited for the drug paraphernalia and taken to the Halifax County Jail on the probation violation where he received a $5,000 bond and January 29 court date.

On Monday at approximately 10 p.m., Officer J. DeSare arrested and charged Monte Larenzo Plum, 42, of Roanoke Rapids, with identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense.

Plum received a $10,000 bond and January 24 court date.

The charges stem from an investigation by DeSare into the reported use of a stolen Electronic Benefits Transfer card at a local business.
