Any home that receives a door hanger is encouraged to place a bag filled with non-perishable food items on their front porch on February 10.
Scouts will return to the neighborhoods on that day to collect the items and transport them to local food banks.

In Halifax County scouts will deliver the food to Angel’s Closet, several churches and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Food Pantry.
As a way of saying thank you, each door hanger includes a coupon redeemable at participating Hardee’s restaurants.
In addition to the door-to-door pickup, local Piggly Wiggly stores are also joining in the effort by placing collection receptacles to receive donations the entire month of February.
The Boy Scouts of America from the East Carolina Council will spread out through hundreds of neighborhoods across eastern North Carolina to collect non-perishable food items for local food banks.
This activity, part of the national Boy Scouts Good Turn for America campaign for more than 30 years.
Scouts from the East Carolina Council typically collect more than 70,000 pounds of food annually and distribute the food to 27 food pantries across eastern North Carolina.
“The cold winter months are often a difficult time for those without access to steady food supplies, and food pantries often struggle to keep up with the increased demand, “ said Doug Brown, scout executive for the East Carolina Council. “The Boy Scouts are inviting our neighbors to join us in the Good Turn for America by donating food to our drive, so that we can all help to ensure that no one goes hungry this winter. “
Brown explained this event is just one of the ways Boy Scouts contribute to our communities. “There are lots of different things a young man can do on a Saturday morning. We like to say that Scouts do things that matter,” said Brown.
