Over the past two weeks the Halifax Community College Foundation has received financial support from two businesses.

On May 17 the foundation received a five-year commitment from BB&T.

Chip Fouts, Senior Vice President for BB&T, presented a check for $100,000 to the HCC Board of Trustees Tuesday.

The check represents the total commitment over five years, with the first $20,000 having already been dispersed.

“We appreciate BB&T taking a leadership role in giving to the HCC Foundation,” said Allen Purser, executive director. “Their commitment to education and the college is exceptional and helps the entire community.”

The contribution from BB&T solidifies a long-term partnership and commitment to education in the Roanoke Valley, Purser said.

On Wednesday the foundation received support from New Dixie Oil.

Scott Aman, CEO, presented a check for $2,500.

A donation to the scholarship fund was made for $500, with the remaining $2,000 donated to the foundation general fund.

“We appreciate New Dixie Oil for stepping up to help match a contribution from BB&T,” said Purser. “We are thankful to Scott Aman for his leadership, and the staff and employees of New Dixie for making this possible.”
