Halifax Co. crime roundup: HCSO; Weldon PD

Halifax County law enforcement reported the following:

 

break in hollister

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office:

Detective R.B. Biggerstaff said on June 15 a report of a break-in and larceny from a sweepstakes establishment located on Highway 561 in Hollister was received.

The establishment reported money was stolen during the break-in.

Biggerstaff said the break-in most likely occurred in the early morning hours.

The suspect broke the front glass door to gain entry.

Investigators believe the suspect was either wearing a hood or possibly a mask.

Weldon Police Department

On June 29 Officer N. Coles responded to a convenience store located in the 500 block of West Second Street following a 911 call, Lieutenant Chris Davis reported.

After Officer Coles arrived he identified the caller as Tony Taylor, 39, of Weldon.

Coles determined Taylor misused the 911 system several times throughout this day and drug paraphernalia was also located.

Taylor was arrested and taken before a magistrate.

He was charged with misuse of 911 and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $500 secured bond with an August 10 court date.
