Man charged in three vending B&Es

A Roanoke Rapids man has been charged in the July 30 breaking and entering of three drink machines at businesses off Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Roanoke Rapids police this morning said investigation by Detective Bobby Martin shows Damian Artis, of Aurelian Springs Road, allegedly broken into drink machines in front of Sears and Firestone by prying the dollar bill slot. He allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from them.

Martin charged Artis with three counts breaking and entering a vending machine, three counts of damage to property as well as charging him with a vehicle break-in.

Artis was given a $2,000 bond and September 18 court date.
