The second person wanted in the theft of blankets from the Oasis in Halifax County has been identified.

Stallings

The identification of David Earl Stallings Jr. of Gaston came through the publishing of the surveillance photo in December, according to Detective J.M. Clark of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Clark said neither Stallings or Matthew Brian Manthe, who was arrested in the case, had ties to the store on Highway 903 and there is no evidence of them having any assistance from store employees.

He could only describe the motivation behind the blanket thefts as a target of opportunity.

Through Crimestoppers tips and assistance from the Gaston Police Department, Clark obtained warrants for Stallings' arrest on charges of larceny, possession of stolen goods and conspiracy.

Anyone with information on Stallings' whereabouts is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
