Nearly $20,000 in landscaping, automotive and other equipment was stolen from a Weldon business overnight, town police said.

Captain James Avens said the break-in occurred at Eagle Landscaping in the 1200 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 5 this morning.

Items were taken from the grounds of the business and entry was gained to the inside of the building as well.

A trailer stolen from the business was used to haul the items away.

Police continue to investigate, Avens said.

A reward is being offered for the recovery of the items.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Weldon Police Department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
