The robbery Wednesday night at the Weldon Blue Flame involved a man brandishing a knife while another stood outside as a lookout, town police Chief Mark Macon said.

Police received the call around 9:30 p.m. and learned that a man wearing a blue bandanna to cover his face demanded money from the clerk, who complied.

The two then fled north to the First Street area.

Macon said police have leads they are working on and served a search warrant at a house on First Street, based on information developed during the investigation. They continue to explore those leads.

The man who served as lookout was wearing light-colored clothing, including pants and a sweater with dark writing on it. He wore a dark colored ball cap.

The man who went in the store was wearing a dark-colored jacket or hoodie and wore a light-colored ball cap. He wore blue jeans with the cuffs rolled up.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
