Trooper W.C. Wheeler said he received confirmation from Vidant Medical Center that the child died. He declined to give to the child's name.
Wheeler said he will be consulting with the Judicial District 6B District Attorney's Office to determine what further charges will be filed against Kyle Glisson in light of the child's death.
Glisson was charged Thursday with the safe movement violation fail to see before turning from a direct line; failure to notify DMV of an address change and a seatbelt violation.
According to Wheeler's initial report, Randy Deloatch was traveling with two children under the age of 16 around 3 p.m. Thursday as the vehicle driven by Glisson was traveling in the opposite lane following farm equipment.
As he attempted to make a left turn onto a farm path, Glisson, who was treated at the scene, reportedly struck the vehicle driven by Deloatch.
The occupants of Deloatch's vehicle were transported to Vidant in Greenville, where the juvenile occupant who died had been listed in critical condition. Deloatch was treated and released.
Deloatch was charged with failure to restrain a child less than 16 in a passenger area.
