Davis, 27, is expected to have extradition proceedings today in Virginia to determine whether he will waive and return to Halifax County, Detective Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said.
Martin said the police department received information around 1:30 today that Davis had been apprehended by the Henrico Police Department.
It is not immediately clear if Davis did anything criminal in Virginia or whether his capture was strictly based on information Roanoke Rapids police Detective J.K. Davis had established that tied him to the Virginia area.
Martin said through the investigative phase following the shooting, Detective Davis received information that Kevin Davis possibly had family or friends there. “Detective Davis coordinated with the Henrico Police Department and the joint effort between the agencies and others led to the capture of (Kevin) Davis.”
He was arrested without incident and currently faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Martin continues to investigate to determine whether additional charges may be filed.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 Tuesday night when the victim was shot multiple times with a handgun.
