This will be the 24th Ducky Derby and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at River Falls Park in Weldon on September 20. The race begins at 2:30 p.m.

The festival will also feature arts and crafts vendors, food and live entertainment. Admission is free. The event is a major fundraiser for the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce, offering rubber duck adoptions for $5 each. You may also adopt six for $25 or 25 for $100.

Each rubber duck is numbered corresponding to adoption tickets sold. Ducks are released off the bridge into the river below, where they race down the river and across the finish line. Whoever has adopted the duck crossing first wins a $2,000 cash prize.
