As warrants have been filed for the arrest of a second person in the Keyuon Garner murder case, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this evening the matter appears to be tied to a recent dispute between the suspects and others.

Anderson

Tripp said in a statement this evening that 18-year-old Teddy Keith Anderson Jr. of Weldon is wanted for murder and two counts of attempted murder in the Monday evening case.

Tripp described Anderson as an alleged active participant in the murder of Garner and the shootings of Wilson Green and Calvin Robinson.

He further described Anderson and the person arrested today in the case, Semaj Clanton, as associates.

Tripp said there is indication that the motive goes back to a dispute between Clanton and Anderson with others that occurred at a local entertainment venue Saturday night. He declined to elaborate.

Tripp said the sheriff's office continues to investigate the Garner murder as well as assist the Weldon Police Department in their investigation of the murder of a 2-year-old child Tuesday morning on Cedar Street. The murders are believed to be related and are also believed to be deliberate.

Clanton, 19, was charged and arrested this afternoon. He faces the same counts as Anderson, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anderson is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201, Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or Weldon Police Department at 252-536-1801.
