A note found Saturday at the Church of Deliverance in Weldon not only included an apology, but the keys and location of where a deacon's stolen car could be located.

Weldon police Chief Mark Macon said members of the church found the note on the ground in front of the building.

Macon said Weldon officers and the Halifax County Sheriff's Office found the vehicle at the Gray Stone subdivision on Highway 158 outside Roanoke Rapids. “The car was found in good condition and nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.”

Officers canvassed the area looking for clues and continue to investigate the Thursday theft as well as the theft of a service truck from Rivertown Tire the day before.
