Four people have been arrested in the August 5 murder of 2-year-old Dy'Uanna Anderson and the shooting of her grandmother, Catherine Price on Cedar Street, the Weldon Police Department reports.

Chief Mark Macon said via email that a press conference with additional details will be held at 4 p.m. today at Weldon Town Hall.

Over the course of the evening Thursday, Weldon police, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, State Bureau of Investigation and Roanoke Rapids Police Department worked to round up the four people —Jamonte Moody, 19, of Roanoke Rapids; Semaj Short, 17, of Roanoke Rapids; William David Cook, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, and Victor Mallory, 21, of Weldon.

Mallory

Macon said the four men arrested are all associated with each other.

Moody

The men face charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree murder. They were jailed without the opportunity for bond.

Short

Moody was arrested while walking on Clinton Street in Roanoke Rapids, while Short was arrested at Second and Madison streets in Roanoke Rapids. Cook was arrested on Third Street in Roanoke Rapids and Mallory was arrested in Weldon.

The 2-year-old Anderson was killed three hours after 15-year-old Keyuon Garner was murdered on The Strip in South Weldon. One person has been arrested and another sought in that murder.

Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this morning that Teddy Anderson, who remains at large, is believed to be out of state to avoid arrest.

“It's with hope that with the recent arrests at 606 Cedar Street that the family has some type of closure,” Tripp said. “My thoughts and prayers are continued for all families involved. My office will continue to assist the SBI and the Weldon Police Department.”
