The arrests of Lois Davis, 50, and 23-year-old Dennis Albert Bradley — his first drug rap, Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon said — came after several months of investigation at the house.
Macon said investigators, who were assisted by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and Roanoke Rapids Police Department, reportedly found evidence of both drug sales and drug use at the house. “Abatement is pending,” he said. “We're trying to get enough to sign the petition so we can take it to court. We're going to keep on doing the operations. We're aggressively working the area,”
Even after Friday's drug sting, Macon said, law enforcement received disturbance calls unrelated to the operation at the house. “We've investigated a significant number of calls there. It's like a drive-through there. People purchase narcotics and drive back out. It's a nuisance to the community.”
Bradley
Bradley, who lives at 700 Maple Street in Weldon, was charged by Lieutenant Chris Davis and Captain James Avens with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He was given a $5,000 secured bond.
Bradley, according to the arrest report, was reportedly found in possession of 3.90 grams of marijuana and 3.37 grams of cocaine.
Davis, of Drake Street in Weldon, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after Davis reportedly found her to be in possession of a glass tube. She was on the property during the execution of the search warrant. She was given a $3,500 unsecured bond.
Halifax County Sheriff's Office drug arrest
In an unrelated arrest Friday afternoon, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office cited Charlie Jeff Pitts, 42, of Highway 48 for possessing one-half ounce or less of marijuana.
Corporal M. Brown responded to the home of Pitts on a disturbance call shortly before 5:30 p.m.
Brown went to the front door and when the door opened he could reportedly smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.
Pitts would not give written consent for deputies to search for the illegal substance.
Brown made contact with Captain Anzell Harris, who applied for a search warrant.
