It is not the believed the arrests of Keeyona Wilkins and Jaquarious Williams Monday are related to a string of motor vehicle break-ins in the Roanoke Rapids area over the weekend. “We've explored the options and have been in communication with Roanoke Rapids,” said Detective Obert Wiltsie. “As of right now we don't think they're related to the ones in Roanoke Rapids.”
Wiltsie said Wilkins, 17, of Enfield, and Williams, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, grew up together.
The break-ins involved the theft of items such as musical instruments, guns and alcohol.
The crimes occurred in December and January and were investigated by Wiltsie and Detective B.C. Griffin.
Assistance by deputies M. Moseley, R.B. Biggerstaff, S.A. Bryant and J. Bozard helped develop the pair as alleged persons of interest in the cases and led to warrants being obtained.
The teens were arrested on two counts of breaking and entering, three counts of larceny, two counts of possession of stolen goods, two counts of breaking and entering motor vehicles, larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, attempted breaking and entering, carry a concealed handgun, possession of a handgun by minor, and consume alcohol by a person under 19.
Williams received a total $9,000 bond while Wilkins received an $11,000 bond. They both have February 25 court dates.
