North Carolina law does not specifically keep anybody from walking around with a handgun in a holster on his or her hip.

It does prohibit having guns at schools, courthouses and establishments that sell alcoholic beverages.

However, you should always be mindful should there be local jurisdictions and ordinances prohibiting the open display of firearms.

Examples would be placards posted on a business' door prohibiting firearms on their property. This would also apply to those lawfully carrying concealed weapons.

 

Every citizen has the right when faced with a life threatening situation to protect themselves or the life of another.

It important to state, as seen in recent news accounts, certain circumstances can no longer be deemed a threat when running away. Every situation is different.

There has been much discussion of the law concerning the "Castle Doctrine."

Many questions have been asked.

In 2013 North Carolina law changed concerning what kind of force you can use when defending your home, your vehicles, and your place of work.

We must be aware of our surroundings.
