Roanoke Rapids police have released more details about an April 16 distraction break-in.

It was on this date that Investigator Frankie Griffin said the victim reported that a newer model gray vehicle pulled up to the front of his residence and a man and woman knocked on the door around 3 p.m.

The white female was described as pretty and wore brown hair while the white male had short, black hair.

The two suspects asked the victim about a complaint about someone parking heavy equipment in his yard and then they started talking about security lights and what kind he might need.

The female took the victim to the back yard while the male stayed in the front.

The victim noticed after they left his safe had been broken into with an undisclosed amount of cash taken as well as some Thai jewelry.

The two suspects also spoke with a Hispanic accent. “We believe that someone knows who these two people are,” Griffin said in a statement. “You may have seen them spending more money than usual or you may have seen them showing Thai jewelry. We ask you to think about the couple, the gray car and an accent.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-444 or Griffin at 252-533-2821.
