A shots fired call in Weldon this afternoon caused no injury or damage, although one man was arrested.

Weldon Police Department Deputy Chief James Avens said the call came in around 3 p.m. at Ninth Street and Washington Avenue after Danny Gray, 30, arrived to pick up his children.

While waiting an argument ensued between Gray, the children's mother and the mother's boyfriend.

Gray fired a weapon into the air but did not aim at anyone and walked away.

Avens apprehended him a short distance away from the scene. Officer Kenneth Melton charged Gray with discharging a weapon in the city limits.

The nature of the dispute was not immediately clear.
