Halifax commissioners today directed the county manager and attorney to begin looking at electronic gaming regulations following a presentation from two residents concerned about an establishment being readied for the former Three Lakes Grocery building near Myrick Estates.

After what he said was a productive meeting today, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said investigation of two Internet sweepstakes businesses which reopened in Roanoke Rapids will continue.

Time for state to stop sweepstakes witch hunt

We think it's time the state of North Carolina end the witch hunt and admit it blundered when it comes to legislation of Internet sweepstakes cafes or businesses like them.

Gaming operations closed in county

All Internet gaming establishments across Halifax County have been checked and have ceased operations, Sheriff Wes Tripp said in a statement today.

Sweepstakes enforcement begins today

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office will begin compliance inspections today to ensure owners and operators of Internet sweepstakes and sweepstakes machine businesses have ceased operations.
