The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a new program where residents can properly dispose of old or unused medicine by simply dropping it off at the sheriff’s office.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office collected numerous pills and liquid medications during its pill take back program in Littleton Saturday.
On Saturday the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office will take back unused or expired prescription, over-the-counter and veterinary medicines.
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department will hold a medicine drop Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CVS.

There will be two opportunities for the public to participate in Operation Medicine Drop, a program that allows people another opportunity to prevent accidental poisonings, abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
