In an effort to promote reading and encourage healthy eating habits and physical activity, the Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative distributed more than three dozen reading kits to public libraries and elementary schools across Halifax and Northampton counties.
Efforts to reduce childhood obesity and improve the overall health of Halifax and Northampton county residents continue with the added component of a new initiatives that encompass a wide cross-section of the areas.
The Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative with support from Healthy Places NC an initiative of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, is putting resources for physical activity and recreation at people’s fingertips with the release of the Places to Explore, Move and Play map.
