The Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department has received a grant for the Chaloner Park Improvement Project from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in Winston-Salem.

With support from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, the Halifax County Public Health System will expand a program aimed at decreasing obesity by encouraging physical activity and healthy eating within the county’s three school districts.

Grant approval will broaden skatepark plans

The city's parks and recreation department will be able to broaden its plans for a skateboard and BMX park at T.J. Davis following the announcement it was awarded a Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust grant.

Ledgerwood improvements dedicated

The new playground equipment at Ledgerwood Field is all based on movement, Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Director John Simeon said today before a brief ceremony that dedicated the renovations and opened up Family Fun Day.

Map highlights area's healthy places

The Roanoke Valley Community Health Initiative with support from Healthy Places NC an initiative of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, is putting resources for physical activity and recreation at people’s fingertips with the release of the Places to Explore, Move and Play map.
