A homegrown business on Lake Gaston catering to the burgeoning sport of wakesurfing has been recognized by a national magazine as one of the top schools in the country.
Taylor Beaver of Roanoke Rapids won the outlaw division championship in the Canadian Wake Surf Nationals at Lake Calabogie in the province of Ontario over the weekend.
Taylor Beaver, a 15-year-old wakesurfer from Roanoke Rapids, earned a national title at the USA National Wakesurf Championship at Callaway Gardens, Georgia.
