On December 5, Halifax Community College’s (HCC) Alpha Phi Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held its first induction ceremony of the academic year.

For the fall induction class, 10 new members took the Phi Theta Kappa oath.

During the ceremony, Dr. Michael Elam, president of HCC, offered words of encouragement and congratulations, reminding students of the need to maintain their integrity in both their academic and professional pursuits.

After Elam spoke, Gary Redding and Dr. Rachel Stephens, the advisors of PTK, completed the induction of new members.

Each student was brought up on stage and given a candle, with the flame symbolizing knowledge.

Once each new member had received their candle, the PTK oath was administered.

The newest members of Phi Theta Kappa are: Keyshawn Barkley, Nikia Clapp, Nicholas Coker, Erica Fleetwood, Stephanie Mead, Jacoya Moore, Malik Silver, Linda Vaught, Jeremiah Williams and Tamya Williams.
