North Carolina State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor will be State Representative Rodney D. Pierce’s next guest in the legislator’s Bringing the Capital to the Constituents series.
The representative will host Taylor at the Warren County Armory Civic Center in Warrenton on Thursday, October 9.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Taylor’s visit coincides with National Fire Prevention Week — October 5 through 11 — and the broader recognition of October as National Fire Prevention Month.

His presence in Warren County — home to 19 of House District 27’s nearly 40 fire departments — underscores the county’s vital role in local emergency response and fire safety efforts, Pierce said.
“As the proud son of a community that understands service and sacrifice, I deeply respect
the culture of our fire departments and the firefighters who dedicate themselves to protecting others,” said Pierce. “Firefighters are not just first responders — they are educators, protectors, and integral members of our communities. Their commitment deserves recognition not just during Fire Prevention Month, but every day.”
Before his current role as chief state fire marshal, Taylor served as a volunteer firefighter, fire marshal, and emergency management coordinator for the city of Albemarle in Stanly County.
He also worked as a part-time fire inspector and investigator for the county Fire Marshal’s Office. Today, Taylor oversees eight divisions within the Office of the State Fire Marshal and serves in multiple leadership roles, including:
Executive director, NC Fire and Rescue Commission
Fire training director, North American Fire Training Directors
Commissioner, State Emergency Response Commission
Vice President, National Association of State Fire Marshals
Pierce’s Bringing the Capital to the Constituents series aims to connect residents of rural and underserved communities in House District 27 with decision-makers and leaders from state government, bringing policy conversations directly to the people.
Upcoming guests in the series include:
November: Secretary Pamela Cashwell of the state Department of Natural and Cultural Resources
December: NC Supreme Court Associate Justices Allison Riggs and Anita Earls, the court’s senior associate justice
