Wrecks in Halifax and Northampton counties claimed the lives of a Hollister man and Roanoke Rapids woman, the state Highway Patrol reported this morning. Both wrecks occurred Saturday.

Sergeant J.A. “Tony” Cameron said Corey Rochell Mills, 22, died in a wreck on State Road 1327 in Hollister.

The wreck, according to a report by Trooper B.S. Myers, occurred around 4:30 a.m. when Mills ran off the road to the right. He lost control and overcorrected, the vehicle crossing the center line but then traveling back off the road to the right where it struck a utility pole.

Cameron said alcohol and speed were contributing factors.

Saturday night, Felicia Harris, 22, died on US 158  in Northampton County when she lost control of her vehicle and struck another vehicle. There were no further details on that report.
