A stop for multiple traffic offenses Sunday also led to DWI and drug possession charges, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Tyree Davis said in a news release Deputy Dreher Bozard stopped a vehicle on Medoc Mountain State Park Road in Hollister for multiple traffic violations.
After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Bozard smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the interior of the vehicle and identified the driver as Abraham Lynch III, 35, of Enfield.
Davis said Lynch told Deputy Bozard he had just left a party and had been drinking.
Deputy Chris High assisted Deputy Bozard with a field sobriety test on Lynch. After failing the test Deputy Bozard placed Lynch under arrest for driving while impaired.
Deputy Bozard also located 6.8 grams of marijuana and a cigar in the vehicle that Lynch stated was his. Lynch was charged with DWI, possession of less then a half-ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lynch was given a $750 bond and his court date is set for Oct. 26.
