A Roanoke Rapids man charged in a January domestic assault now faces similar charges for an assault on Stephens Street in Roanoke Rapids Friday.
Lieutenant George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said deputies G.H. Teal, Chris Boden and J.M. Clark responded to the house and found the victim in the case had clearly been assaulted.
The victim was treated and released at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
The victim told investigators Raymond Mitchell Spence had assaulted her and wouldn’t let her leave.
Spence, 47, faces charges of second degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault inflicting serious injury and assault on a female.
Spence was jailed without the opportunity for bond because the case is domestic and has an April 27 court date.
Evans said the weapon charge reflects Spence allegedly cut the victim with a knife. He also allegedly kicked her in the ribs, possibly breaking them.
In January Spence was charged with assaulting a female victim on her body and face with a blunt object.
