A Roanoke Rapids man is wanted for an attempted murder that occurred shortly after midnight this morning at Bobby’s Supermarket in South Rosemary.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said the victim, an occupant of a vehicle which was fired into, was taken to Duke University Medical Center and is being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.
Jackson said the suspect in the case, James Sesson, 19, of Fox Court Run, walked up to the front of the vehicle and opened fire with a handgun, shooting into the occupied vehicle.
Video footage shows Sesson walking with his hands in the air toward the vehicle and then firing. “There’s some kind of beef there, we just don’t know what it is right now,” Jackson said.
Sesson was last seen in the Sam Powell Dairy Road area. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or 911.
Police are obtaining warrants for attempted murder.
