The Halifax CountyConvention and Visitors Bureau is anticipating all of the area’s 1500 hotel rooms to be filled for Rapids Jam Country Music Festival, June 16-18 in Roanoke Rapids. Early Bird General Admission for the three-day event, which is $99, continues through April 15.
“We’re looking forward to the influx of visitors to our area for Rapids Jam. Our hotels and restaurants are already starting to plan for the additional traffic this will generate. This is truly the summer’s best entertainment value on the East Coast with over 20 concerts in three days from some of country music’s top artists,” said Lori Medlin, Halifax Convention and Visitors Bureau president.
Headliners include Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and Willie Nelson.
“With the price of tickets for the event increasing after April 15, we’re anticipating our hotels to be completely booked. We’re also hoping visitors will enjoy other attractions in the area like the Roanoke Canal Museum, Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park, and the Roanoke Canal Trail,” Medlin added.
Tourists spent over $73 million in Halifax County last year. “We’re looking forward to this event stimulating the economy of our service related businesses even more for this year and for years to come,” said Gene Minton, Halifax CVB Chairman.
Rapids Jam 2011 is being modeled after other successful country music festivals like Country Thunder, Big Valley Jamboree, and Country Stampede. In order to really get attendees excited, Rapids Jam is the first-ever festival to offer Party Pit passes for each artist. The Party Pit Pass is the fans’ chance to get up close and personal with the artists in front of the stage.
Rapids Jam will be the first event this year at The Festival Park at Carolina Crossroads, which is located behind the Roanoke Rapids Theatre off Interstate 95 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
