The two women charged in the Christopher Lynn Johnston death case allegedly lied to investigators, hence their charges of accessory after the fact of involuntary manslaughter, warrants show.

Pamela Elrod and Kristina Wallace became accessories by helping Jason Wallace avoid arrest and punishment by lying to officers about facts in the case numerous times throughout the investigation, warrants on file in the Halifax County Clerk of Courts office say.

Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department declined comment when asked today how many times investigators talked to the women and the warrants do not go into specific detail.

The warrant for Jason Wallace also does not go into specific detail on circumstances leading to his charge of involuntary manslaughter in Johnston’s death. Rather, the warrant says a magistrate found probable cause that Jason Wallace did kill and slay Johnston.

The police department has declined comment on that aspect of the case as well, only to say shortly after 2:30 the morning of his death on January 13, police responded to room 227 of the Carolina Inn where it was reported the 49-year-old Johnston had fallen and was not breathing.

He was taken by EMS to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The case file also shows each person charged was appointed attorneys by the court Wednesday — Elrod appointed Jay Walker; Jason Wallace appointed Jamal Summey and Kristina Wallace appointed Sam Barnes.

The next court date is scheduled for May 30.
