A Whitakers man and Rocky Mount man were charged today after they were caught allegedly removing an electric motor from a conveyor at an Enfield area business.

Lieutenant Doug Pilgreen of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Sergeant Greg Richardson and Deputy Charlie Jenkins responded to Quality Forest Wood Products after two suspicious people were seen in the lumberyard.

The officers caught Anthony Williams, 40, of Whitakers, and James Tyrone Whitaker, 38, of Rocky Mount, allegedly removing the motor.

The men were charged with felony larceny, second-degree trespassing and possession of burglary tools with assistance from Lieutenant Neil Aycock.

The men were jailed on $10,000 bonds and have June 6 court dates.
