A homeowner who reported a disturbance Sunday morning ended up being the one arrested when Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw pot plants through an open window.

Shortly before 3:15 a.m., Deputy T. Clark and Sergeant Greg Richardson responded to House Mill Road following a disturbance call.

The officers found the man who caused the disturbance walking around the back of the house and talked to him, according to Lieutenant Bobby Martin.

The man, however, was not arrested because the disturbance did not lead to any physical confrontation nor cause any of the occupants harm, Martin explained this morning.

As the officers spoke to the man they spotted a marijuana plant through the window and spoke with the homeowner, Gregory Troy, 55.

The officers discovered several plants throughout the home, which is located in the Roanoke Rapids area. The plants were seized and Gregory was charged with maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana.
