The state Highway Patrol is investigating to determine whether fight calls on Farley Circle Tuesday night are linked to a single-vehicle crash that led to the death of one person.

Trooper J.D. Warren said this evening his intentions are to figure out any connection as he continues his investigation of the matter. He said he is aware of the calls.

Chief Deputy Wes Tripp of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said at approximately 10:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a fight call at Farley Circle that involved people with baseball bats.

When deputies arrived they found no fight but did speak to the owner of a private vehicle who had his tire cut.

Deputies advised the victim since he knew there were witnesses to obtain a warrant.

Around midnight, Tripp said the sheriff’s office received a second call to Farley Circle about an argument in the yard. While deputies were arriving they received another call people were leaving.

Lieutenant Tim Harris of the sheriff’s office was in the area and noticed a vehicle, which he stopped.

During the ID check, Harris discovered that Eric Roberson was wanted on a court warrant for driving while license revoked, two other driving charges and trespassing.

Roberson was jailed on $1,000 bond. The others in the vehicle walked a short distance to their homes while Harris secured the vehicle.

While Harris was in Halifax processing Roberson the call of the wreck was dispatched. Harris went back to the crash scene at Sam Powell Dairy Road and Farley Circle and determined the vehicle he stopped was not the same one involved in the wreck, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m. today.

In the crash that Warren investigated, a Littleton man died and two others were critically injured and flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

The driver of the Toyota Four Runner, Crystal Boswell, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with DWI and driving while license revoked, according to Warren.

Michael Bowden, 30, from what Warren can determine at this point, was the passenger in the right rear of the vehicle and died after being ejected.

Boswell was traveling west on Sam Powell Dairy Road shortly after 1 a.m. when she ran off the road to the right and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to run off the road to the left. The vehicle struck a ditch and overturned several times. Bowden, Montrae Whitaker, 26, of Littleton, and Jazmine Hooten, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, were ejected from the vehicle. Whitaker and Hooten were both flown to Vidant.
