Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a string of commercial business break-ins that have occurred over the last three months.

Chief Thomas Hathaway said this morning investigators have developed a suspect in the crimes that involved at least eight businesses. “We've got information coming in daily involving these break-ins which may lead to an arrest in the near future.”

Hathaway said investigators determined the person of interest based on physical evidence collected at the crime scenes.

During the break-ins items were either removed or damage, although at this point the police chief could not give a dollar amount.
