A man on federal probation was one of a pair arrested Wednesday in the execution of a search on Godley Street in the Lincoln Heights community.

Federal court records show Tryon Mills was indicted on four counts related to crack sales out of a residence at 1664 Hills Street in Roanoke Rapids from July of 2004 to April of 2005.

In 2006 he accepted a plea agreement that dropped three of the counts.

Lieutenant Anzell Harris, of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, said he has notified federal authorities of the raid, which also included the arrest of Anthony Alston, 27, of Riverview Court.

Items seized.

Under terms of the plea arrangement Mills struck with the federal government, revocation of his release arrangement results in a five-year prison sentence.

The sheriff's office made the arrests following the execution of a search warrant that was based on three weeks of citizen complaints and deputy information led by investigation by Agent D.C. Dickens.

Narcotics agents and the Hazardous Entry and Assist Team executed the search warrant around noon.

Alston

A man later identified as Alston allegedly jumped from a side window, running with bags toward Lincoln Street. He was apprehended in the front yard of a Lincoln Street residence after a short chase.

Alston was allegedly in possession of 262.8 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and other items of drug paraphernalia.

Mills, 36, was inside the residence, where agents reportedly found 95.5 grams of marijuana, digital scales, ammunition and other items of drug paraphernalia.

Harris described Mills and Alston as reputed street level dealers.

Mills was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, and possess drug paraphernalia.

Alston faces the same counts, along with a count of resisting a public officer.

Both men received $50,000 cash bonds and have March 5 court dates.
