The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:
Sunday around 8 p.m., Deputy R. Elder stopped a vehicle in the Roanoke Rapids area and encountered Lucus Hedgepeth, 36, of Enfield.
During the encounter, Elder seized a clear plastic bag containing multiple “hits” of crack cocaine. Elder arrested and charged Lucus Hedgepeth with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony maintaining a vehicle for storage of a controlled substance.
He received a $5,000 secured bond pending a November 20 court date.

The exact amount of crack wasn’t immediately available.
On the evening of September 15, deputies responded to Family Dollar on Highway 48 in the Roanoke Rapids area about an attempted breaking and entering.
Deputies found the front door and window shattered.
