The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
January 16
Around 2 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett went to Presto on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway to speak with a victim about a reported larceny.
After speaking with the victim, Baggett began investigating and Patrice Danielle Roberts, 22, of Garysburg, was identified as the alleged suspect.
Roberts surrendered Monday and was charged with larceny from the person and possession of stolen property.
Around 9:30 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to Web Hill Street for an assault call.
During the investigation, Mason noticed the victim had injuries.
Mason identified Oscar I. Hendricks, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, as the alleged suspect in the assault.
Hendricks was located in the area by Mason and Officer Adam Salmon on Highway 158.
Hendricks was charged with assault by strangulation and assault on a female.
He was jailed without the opportunity for bond and given a February 18 court date.
Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.
January 17
Around 5 p.m. Master Officer Chris Babb responded to Rite Aid on Tenth Street and spoke with the loss prevention officer about a larceny.
During the investigation Babb arrested and charged Kunta Kunte Shearin, 36, of Roanoke Rapids with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia,
Shearin was given a $500 bond and a February 13 court date.
Around 7 p.m. Salmon responded to Rite Aid on another larceny call.
During the investigation he arrested and charged Darius Dewayne Lewter and Nathaniel Dion Moore Jr., 24, of Roanoke Rapids for larceny by defeating an anti-theft device.
Lewter was given a $4,600 bond and Moore was given a $4,000 bond. Both men have February 18 court dates.
Lieutenant Perry Parks, Moseley, Master Officer Gorton Williams and Officer Mark Oakley assisted in this investigation.
January 18
Around 11:30 p.m. Moseley, Williams and Salmon responded to the parking lot of CJ's Bingo on Fourteenth Street on a call people were trying to break into vehicles.
When officers arrived in the area, they located one of the alleged suspects in the parking lot of Presto and the other in front of L&R motors.
Moseley arrested and charged Thomas Lorenzo Sherod and Reggie Lee Woodson, both 43, and both of Roanoke Rapids with attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
Both men were given $2,500 bonds and court dates of February 18.
“The quick response along with the callers' information lead to the quick arrest of these subjects,” Hasty said.
