The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr.:

Jamie Fennell, 29, was arrested at approximately 3:45 following a stop for an equipment violation on Highway 258 near Rich Square.
As a result of this stop, Fennell, of Rich Square, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.
He was arrested and placed in the Northampton County Detention Center with a $6,500 secured bond and a Thursday court date.
In a statement Sheriff Jack Smith commended Deputy T. Antunez and Sergeant C. Collier for their work in this case. “The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office will continue to arrest those involved in such activities.”

Deputies responded to a report of missing 19-year-old male from the Pleasant Hill area.
The call came in around 6:45 a.m. from the victim’s mother stating he walked away from the residence. The sheriff’s office immediately began a search and located him at approximately 8 a.m. in Weldon safe and sound.
Smith commended members of the sheriff’s office for their quick response.

Troy Lee Banks was charged in a domestic dispute for allegedly stabbing a female victim four times with a kitchen knife.
While DeLoatch was at the hospital interviewing the victim, Banks, who was in a relationship with the victim, showed up to visit her.
He was arrested by DeLoatch and Chief Chuck Hasty of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
Banks was transported to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office were he was formally charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a female.
He was placed in the Northampton County Detention Center with a $51,000 secured bond and a Thursday court date.
As of this report the victim remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition.
“I would like to commend Captain DeLoatch and Chief Chuck Hasty,” Smith said in a statement. “I would like to commend Captain DeLoatch for the swift manner in which he conducted his investigation. We will continue to work closely with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and all other agencies.”
