A Woodland man faces numerous charges following a Tuesday morning chase which damaged a Northampton County Sheriff's Office patrol car as well as his own vehicle.
Captain Courtney Williams said this evening it was unclear why Dajuan Davis, 23, fled from the parking area of Northampton County High School in the Creeksville area and what business he had at the school around 7:45 that morning.
Deputies D. Carter and M. Walton observed the vehicle and attempted to stop it, Davis driving away and turning onto NCHS Road at a high rate of speed.
Williams said the exact speeds attained in the chase, which went through Conway, Woodland and ended on Highway 35 in the Potecasi area, were not clear.
During the chase, Davis, driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra ran into the right side of the patrol car, a 2014 Dodge Charger. The collision caused $3,000 in damages to the patrol car and $4,000 in damages to the Nissan.
Davis fled the vehicle but was caught by Carter after a brief foot chase.
Davis faces charges of felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving and resisting a public officer.
He received an $8,300 secure bond and March 4 court date.
Sheriff Jack Smith in a statement commended Carter and Walton for being alert on the school campus.
He also commended Conway police Chief Billy Duke for his professionalism in the matter.
The Murfreesboro Police Department and Hertford County Sheriff's Office assisted, along with the state Highway Patrol.
“The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office will have a presence at the Northampton County High School and other Northampton County schools so that the students, staff and other personnel are kept safe as possible,” Smith said.
