The number of positive COVID-19 in Halifax County now stands at 14, health system Director Bruce Robistow reported this afternoon.

Robistow said the numbers which the health system reports come from the department itself, Vidant North and any other providers which perform testing for the novel coronavirus.

The 14th case represents an additional person who tested positive. In an earlier update, the health system reported there were 13 people who tested positive.

In its last update around 11 this morning, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported that across the state, COVID-19 has been found in 90 out of 100 counties.

It reported there are 3,221 laboratory-cases; 46 deaths and 41,082 completed tests. There are currently 354 people hospitalized.

Laboratory-confirmed cases reflect cases that were tested and returned positive, including the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health and reporting hospital and commercial labs.

All data are preliminary. Not all cases of COVID-19 are tested, so this does not represent the total number of people in North Carolina who have or had COVID-19.

Deaths reflect deaths in persons with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 reported by local health departments to the state department.

Completed tests reflect testing completed by the state Laboratory of Public Health and reporting hospital and commercial labs.
