Authorities are searching for 18-year-old Tri’Ali Hyman and pursuing juvenile charges against another teen in connection with an early September drive-by shooting that injured a 17-year-old, Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Lawrence Wiggins said.

Officers responded on September 6 to the 200 block of Clinton Street following reports of gunfire. Officers learned that a 17-year-old victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso and had already been transported to ECU North Hospital for medical treatment.

A preliminary inquiry and subsequent follow-up by the RRPD Criminal Investigations Division determined that a vehicle stopped along the street, from which occupants opened fire on the juvenile and several others gathered in a residential yard. Multiple rounds also struck the home, which was occupied at the time of the shooting.

Investigators identified the suspects as Hyman and an unnamed juvenile accomplice. 

Detectives recovered two firearms from the suspect’s vehicle.

Active arrest warrants have been issued for Hyman, charging him with:

Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury

Discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling

Hyman has been entered into the National Crime Information Center database as a wanted person. Juvenile petitions are currently being secured for the same charges against the juvenile.
