Extensive searches thus far have not yielded any clues on an Enfield man who was reported missing December 20.

There has been no evidence that 72-year-old Lacy Bunch has left the Enfield area, Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said this afternoon.

The few leads which have come in put him in the Enfield area, Hall said, but those leads turned into deadends.

“Our efforts have been search and rescue teams from throughout the state and far as South Carolina who have come in to do foot searches in the woods and abandoned properties,” Hall said.

Helicopters from the state Highway Patrol and state Forest Service have been deployed and dogs from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety have been used.

State Probation and Parole has assisted in the search efforts and officers have knocked on doors asking if anyone has any idea about Bunch’s whereabouts.

The indication remains that Bunch left his home on Bell Street sometime between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on December 20, Hall said.

Family members have said the man suffers from dementia and may not have been taking his medication.

He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt, gray pants and is believed to have not been wearing shoes or socks.

He is 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds. His hair is red and he has brown eyes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201, 911 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
