The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Thursday at approximately 11 a.m., Officer J. DeSare conducted a traffic stop for a violation in the 1500 block of Marshall Street.  

Quantez H. Ward, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was found in possession of narcotics and a stolen firearm.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and reckless driving.  

Ward received a $5,000 bond and December 5 court date.

 

On Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m., Lieutenant J. Baggett conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Vine Street.

Rodney Bernell Lassiter, 37, of Roanoke Rapids, had an outstanding order for arrest and was reportedly found in possession of narcotics.

Lassiter was arrested and charged for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle, speeding, fictitious registration and was served an outstanding order for arrest from Bertie County.

Lassiter received a $9,000 bond and December 5 court date.

Sergeant D. Newsome with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted.

 

On Tuesday at approximately 11 p.m., Officer B. Council conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Clinton Street near Roanoke Avenue.  

Narcotics and paraphernalia were reportedly located in the possession of Paul Thomas Strickland Jr., 26, of Roanoke Rapids.  

Strickland was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $40,000 bond and a December 5 court date.

In addition to the December 5 court date, Strickland has a January 2 court date for a litany of drug charges involving cocaine, MDMA and marijuana as well as two counts of resisting an officer.

He has a January 22 court date for cocaine possession.
